2-alarm fire spreads to four Chester County townhouses


PHOTO: Firefighters from New Castle County responded on a second alarm to assist Chester County firefighters in battling a blaze in a row of townhomes on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The fire broke out in the 500 block of Buena Vista Drive in Kennett Square shortly after 5 p.m. Flames spread to four of the five townhouses in that block before being extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.

Firefighter Injured In Dover House Fire


The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that occurred on Tuesday in Dover. Chief Deputy Brian Schad, of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office said the Cheswold Fire Company arrived in the 100 block of Delshire Drive to find flames coming from the rear of a residence. Schad said State fire investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Their investigation concluded that the fire was accidental, sparked by discarded smoking materials according to Shad. A firefighter suffered a heat-related injury and was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for medical attention. Additionally, a resident of the home was evaluated by Kent County Paramedics but declined further treatment. No other injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damages.
