Firefighters from the Jamestown Rural Fire Department and Jamestown Fire Department had a busy day on Saturday, May 4, responding to separate fires in the area. First, the Jamestown Rural Fire Department received a call at 6:42 p.m. about a fire involving a Husqvarna riding mower and a Honda car near a garage at 8975 38th St. SE. Fire Chief Brian Paulson reported that fourteen firefighters and five units quickly responded to the scene. Both the lawnmower and the vehicle were destroyed in the blaze. There were no injuries reported, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Shortly after, at 7:15 p.m., the Jamestown Fire Department received another call, this time regarding a small fire on the second-floor balcony of an apartment building at 909 12th Ave. NE. Chief Jim Reuther stated that four trucks and sixteen firefighters were dispatched to the location.
