Two homes catch fire within one hour in Minot

The Minot Fire Department was dispatched to two fires at different residences on Thursday, May 16. Firefighters were dispatched to 2101 3rd St NW Lot #212 at 4:36 a.m. for reports of a mobile home on fire. Firefighters immediately began to extinguish the fire; there was no one occupying the mobile home at the time. Crews from all five fire stations responded to the fire. Then, around 5:48 a.m., a second fire was reported at 527 7th Street NE. The Station 4 crew quickly went to the newly-reported fire. Upon arrival, crew members were told the house was unoccupied. They discovered heavy smoke coming from the front door/entry way, and immediately began extinguishing the fire. Nonprofit Begins Walking Route in Fargo to Honor Fallen First Responders

“Carry The Load,” an organization dedicated to honoring first responders and raising money for the family and loved ones they’ve left behind, have been in North Dakota before. But this year is special. It’s the first time they’ve been in Fargo -- and not only that, they’re beginning their march to Dallas from this very spot. “We’re very excited to extend out, and make connections, share the word, and get more people out with us,” said Jessica Kessel, a leg captain for Carry The Load. A decent crowd showed up at the three Fargo checkpoints Wednesday, despite rains that occasionally bordered on torrential. Carry the Load says they appreciate the support, and they proceed with their mission no matter what. “It means a lot for us to have people come out rain or shine,” said Kessel, “but we do walk, rain or shine, no matter what the weather’s like.”
