VIDEO: We hope to never need them, but we’re glad to know they’re here. Search and rescue teams play a critical role in our communities. An Eastern Kentucky University professor is looking to grow the next generation of rescuers through a new club.
David Fifer is the assistant professor of emergency medical services at EKU, and when he’s not in the classroom, he’s out and about getting experience with search and rescue missions. It’s why he’s passionate about training the next generation with a student-based search and rescue group. “The purpose of that is to provide some experiential learning opportunities to students so that they can start to get involved in actual outdoor and wilderness responses,” Fifer said.
