A fire has destroyed a home on Providence Road. Tuesday afternoon at approximately 5:40, the Leitchfield and Anneta Fire Departments responded to the blaze at 174 Providence Road and found the wood-frame structure fully engulfed in flames and partially on the ground. Firefighters, unable to save the home, worked to keep the flames from a propane tank located only a few yards behind the home. Another residence, about 75 feet from the burning structure, was also sprayed down to keep it from catching on fire. The home was rental property and had just been vacated, according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall. He added that the home had electricity and noted a fire pit only yards from the home had recently been in use, and may have been the cause of the fire.
