VIDEO: First responders got a special "thank you" for helping save a little girl's life in Valley Village.
A 2-year-old girl almost drowned in a back yard pool last month.
Her mother was able to rescue her from the pool, and her grandfather resuscitated her. Police, firefighters and EMTs then arrived, took over and rushed her to the hospital.
On Tuesday, her grandfather invited their heroes to his house to show his appreciation.
"They did everything they could think of to get that baby to the hospital in time for me and my family for her to be sitting here today. And we just wanted to say thank you to them — the EMS, 911 controller, anybody that was involved, our family says thanks," Michael Norris, the grandfather, said.
Fortunately, Norris is trained in CPR. Firefighters told WLKY knowing that skill is key to pool safety, as well as keeping an eye on children and making it hard for them to get to the pool.
