Two people are dead after an overnight house fire in Riverside. Riverside Fire Department, State Fire Marshal's Office, Washington County Sheriff's Office and several other agencies responded to the fire at 12:55 a.m. Saturday morning. Riverside Fire Chief Chad Smothers said there was visible smoke and flames when firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters entered the house through a bedroom window and were quickly able to find one of the victims and bring them out. "They were able to initiate a search and fire attack at the same time," Smothers said. "With the help of mutual aid from other agencies." The second victim was found in the basement buried under debris because of a partial floor collapse. "The crews are doing really well. They train and prepare for this and I can't say enough for how hard they worked," Smothers said.
