The Iowa City Fire Department is partnering with ACT to conduct a live fire training on a home located at 1650 N. Scott Boulevard.
The burn is happening Saturday, May 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The property is owned by ACT and is being removed.
ICFD is going to use the inside of the house for several live fire situations to train newer firefighters, officers, and officer candidates. They will then do a controlled burn of the remainder of the building in the afternoon.
“Helping to provide a hands-on professional development exercise for local firefighters means a lot to us as an organization dedicated to education and workplace success,” said ACT Vice President of Corporate Services, Jason Happel. “We’ve called Iowa City home for more than 60 years and are always pleased to be good neighbors who help this special community thrive.”
