The Solon City Council on Wednesday approved construction for a new firehouse. The department has been working to raise $5 million for the project since 2018. The current firehouse was built in the 1950’s, and a three bay addition was added in 1990. More than 1,300 people from seven countries and 38 states have donated money for the new facility. The fire department is still seeking donations. They say they are about $250,000 short of their fundraising goal.
