The Sioux Center City Council members were guided before their meeting Monday through Fire Station 2 by fire chief Dave Van Holland. Construction on the $1.3 million building at 1510 S. Main Ave. is wrapping up, with the final punch list anticipated to be completed by the end of the week. There’s a lot more space in this 7,200 square foot structure with air conditioning and heating, and its bay can amply accommodate modern fire engines, which were moved in about two weeks ago. The first stop of the tour was the museum portion, located on the building’s southwest corner. This room juts out from the rest of the building a bit, giving the outside more visual interest. The space will serve as a display room for the fire department’s antique REO speed wagon, with canned lights in the room illuminating it by night.
