Davenport firefighters responded to a fire at the West Family YMCA early Thursday morning.
The Davenport Fire Department says it responded to the YMCA at approximately 2:10 a.m. for a fire alarm.
Firefighters found a fire located in the men’s locker room sauna. The department dispatched five rigs and a line was deployed, putting out the fire.
“Crews made an aggressive stop to limit the damage to the affected area,” Davenport Fire Chief Mike Carlsten said.
According to the fire department, the fire was contained to the sauna resulting in minimal damage. There was moderate smoke, which traveled through portions of the building.
Firefighters remained on scene after the fire was out to help remove smoke from the building.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Davenport school district officials say there was no damage to West High School other than a faint smoke smell.
