The Iowa City Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 7:28 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8th located at 342 Finkbine Lane.
Fire crews worked hastily to find and stop a kitchen fire on the lower level of the three-story building. While the fire was being put out, other fire crews searched the whole apartment building to ensure that everyone had evacuated safely.
Seventeen fire department personnel responded to the fire. The fire department operation was supported by the Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Johnson County Joint Communications Center and Mid-American Energy.
No injuries were reported and the fire damage was contained to the kitchen area of one apartment. Other parts of the building sustained smoke damage. Total damage is estimated at $3,000.
