The Marjorie E. Gruis Trust made two additional gifts to the community last week. The Belmond Fire Department received $100,000 and the Belmond Hospital Foundation received $50,000.
Last December, the Trust gifted $1 million to the fire department for two new trucks, $500,000 to the hospital foundation for new ambulances, and $10,000 to the public library.
Gruis, a long-time Belmond resident, died in January 2018 and wished to provide support to local organizations.
“Belmond is fortunate to have someone like Marjorie who wanted help the emergency services in the community,” said Fire Chief Dean Adcock. “We plan to use the donation to purchased needed equipment for the department.”
