We are just back to the West after attending Fire Rescue International in Dallas, Texas. It is always energizing to have some time to meet with old friends, make new ones, and conduct important business. This event is also the forum for our annual Western Fire Chiefs Association membership meeting and I am honored to announce the election of new officers to our Executive Board of Directors. Chief Jeff Tucker from City of Kenai Fire Department, Alaska will  serve as President; Chief Scott Miller from City of Casa Grande Fire Department, Arizona will serve as Vice President; and Chief Douglas Schrage from University of Alaska Fire Department, Alaska will move into the International Director’s Position. All will serve a two-year term and the Association is lucky to have their leadership, commitment and insight.

I personally would like to extend a very special thank you to Chief Douglas Schrage for his excellent leadership in the role of President for the past two years…the Association thrived under Chief Schrage’s dedication and direction.

We look forward to a great couple of years tackling our fire service issues.

As always, we are here to serve our membership and appreciate all of those who were able to attend our meeting. The room was full but we have room for more...if you are not currently a member and would like to become involved please sign up for membership at https://www.iafc.org/membership/become-a-member
