Two people were killed and three others injured Tuesday evening when as many as 10 vehicles -- including two semi-trucks -- crashed on I-5 near Lacey. The crash happened at about 5:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Marvin Road.. The State Patrol said a semi-truck driver from Surrey, B.C. was northbound and driving up on slowing traffic. The driver hit his brakes and veered to the left, crossing all lanes of traffic. The semi rolled and hit multiple vehicles. It's unclear what caused the wreck, but Washington State Patrol trooper Shameka Phillips said as many as 10 vehicles were involved and two people were killed. They are both men from Tacoma. Phillips said three other crash victims were taken to the hospital, but she didn't have information on the severity of the injuries. One of the semis jackknifed and blocked all lanes of northbound traffic at Marvin Road, creating a traffic nightmare during busy rush hour traffic. A detour was set up for northbound drivers at exit 111. As of 7:50 p.m. the northbound lanes were still completely blocked and there was no estimate on when the wreck would be cleared.
