While burned rubber and charred metal were scooped up from the Screaming Yak parking lot, Donna Flom surveyed what was once her car.
"It was so scary," she said. "I had my daughter in the car with me."
The fire was so hot, it melted the tires from her car to the asphalt of the parking lot.
"That's about it. It's toast. It's completely totaled," Flom said.
Flom and her daughter Aili say they picked up their 2015 Chevy from a routine oil change a few hours earlier. "They gave a free and clear, they said no red flags, and just gave it back," said Flom.
But shortly after she got the car back she noticed something.
"I got up to Francis, right by Division, and I just noticed there was a little bit of smoke and we got over and it started smoking worse," she said. "We got out and the flames started shooting through the hood of the car."
She called 911, but the damage was already done.
"Within five minutes it was completely burned."
Luckily, Donna and Aili were unhurt. Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
