Fire tore through a Yakima home Thursday evening, leaving the house damaged and two dogs missing and feared dead. The fire was reported just before 8 p.m. at 200 W. Bartlett Place. Firefighters said they arrived to find an active fire that could have spread to engulf the whole house. They were able to extinguish the flames within minutes, but not before the blaze caused what firefighters called “significant” damage to the home. Two people escaped the house, but firefighters said two small dogs were missing and feared dead. “Small dogs like that, they might have tried to hide somewhere inside to try and escape and then not made it through,” said Yakima Fire Department Shift Commander Mitch Cole.
