Firefighters from Fire District #11 called to a report of mobile home fire in south Spokane County Tuesday morning found more than a fire when they arrived. The call came in around 8:00 a.m. as several people said they could see the flames from Highway 27. While extinguishing the flames of a fire that destroyed the mobile home, two greenhouses full of what the Spokane County Sheriff's Office initially believed was an illegal marijuana grow operation were found on the property. Forms found on scene claim the owner is a medical marijuana patient, and after further investigation, the Sheriff's Office says the operation appears to be legal, but they are still investigating. The Sheriff's Office said no one was around when they arrived, so they don't believe anyone was injured.
