Law enforcement is investigating an SUV fire that burned the body inside, just behind a Richland neighborhood. There is not a lot of information at this time. Shortly after 1 p.m. neighbors in the area near of Rand Drive called and reported an SUV on fire and that a body may be inside. When firefighters got to the scene, they discovered there in fact was a body burned inside as a result of that fire. Officers went around to ask neighbors what they knew. Some of the neighbors reported the vehicle may have been there overnight, but deputies and investigators will make that determination. The body is so badly burned, that officers cannot tell whether it is a man or woman, or even the age range. "That's one of the things that generally what happens in a fire of this nature. It's going to be awhile before we get anything else to be able to kick out," said Captain Mike Cobb with the Richland Police Department. Smoke could be seen from Gage Boulevard and the fire did not spread to the surrounding areas. The next steps in this case will be to secure the area and allow investigators to come out. There will also be multiple agencies working on this one as well. They will look for car tracks and other possible evidence to figure out exactly what happen.
