Children were rescued from a Renton apartment complex fire. The fire occurred just after 4:30 in the morning on Saturday. While on the way to the scene, firefighters were advised of the possibility that children were trapped on the third floor. Two children were rescued from the third floor—where they were in a smoke-filled room. One resident jumped from a second story balcony, injuring their arm. The fire was extinguished within nine minutes. Five residents were treated for minor injuries, officials said. Red Cross is helping displaced residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
