The Spokane Fire Department is warning residents of a man going house-to-house posing as a firefighter. Brian Schaeffer with the fire department says the man identifies himself as a member of the Spokane Fire Department’s “fire safety team.” The man reportedly asks to enter peoples’ homes to inspect smoke detectors and evaluate their evacuation plan. The man then calls the resident back saying they have qualified for a prize and ask if he can come back to the house. Schaeffer says he’s received three complaints in the last 24 hours about this imposter, and has turned the investigation over to the Spokane Police Department. Schaeffer says there has not been any reports of criminal activity yet, but hopes that more community awareness will prevent any damages during the holiday season.
