The proposed new fire and ambulance station in Brussels was a topic for discussion this week in Sturgeon Bay and the Town of Union. At Tuesday's meeting of the Door County Board, the 19 Supervisors present approved a resolution spelling out a “land lease and construction agreement for (a) south ambulance station” to be located on County C, near the intersection with Wisconsin 57. The Intergovernmental Agreement with the Brussels-Union-Gardner (BUG) Fire Department advances the county's share of the construction – and operation – of the new building, expected to be erected in 2017. County Board Resolution 2016-60, stated “That the process of design, bid and construction of the South Ambulance Station may move forward.” Additionally, the resolution said, “That any associated costs, shall initially be paid from funds transferred from the (county's) Unassigned Fund Balance.”
