A local artist is re-inventing the outside of a fire station in Kennewick.
If you drive past Benton County Fire District #1’s station on 27th and Olympia, you might see Crystal Kline out painting. Crystal Kline says, "Characters from video games, people, pretty much anything honestly."
Kline says she's had a paintbrush in her hand for as long as she can remember.
This week, she's using years of perfecting her craft, to pay tribute to local heroes who've died in the line of duty.
Kline says, "Not only is it humbling, I am honored I was chosen to do something like this." Kline is working on memorials for two fallen firefighters from Benton County Fire District #1.
Station Chief Arthur Shrives died on July 8th, 1977.
He had been fighting a fire on Candy Mountain when the winds shifted leaving him with severe burns.
He succumbed to those injuries a few days later.
