Hazardous materials units have been called to two courthouses in the Puget Sound area - one in Tacoma; the other in Redmond.
In Redmond, the District Court building was briefly evacuated after a letter came in with a threat, said Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff's Office. The letter was found not to be a threat, and everyone was allowed back inside about 11:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, around the same time in Tacoma, someone opened a letter at the Pierce County Jail and found white powder between two photos, according to Det. Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department. It doesn't appear to be drugs, Troyer said, adding they are treating the scene "very carefully."
Tacoma Fire officials say there are no injuries there and a "minor evacuation" was under way.
