Spokane Valley firefighters traded in their fire truck for a specially designed communications trailer this week to help with flood relief in Okanogan County. John Nelson, with the Spokane Valley Fire Department, said the crew he's with sets up radio networks to make it safer and easier for responders to stay in touch and keep up with flood relief. The trailer also has the capability to do huge printing projects and mapping tasks, both integral components of a flood response. The communications unit Nelson is helping man usually gets sent out during fire season. He said this is the first time they've used it in a flood response.
