Poulsbo Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Gillard will become the agency's new fire chief July 1 following the retirement of current Fire Chief Jeff Griffin.
Gillard has held a variety of roles with the Poulsbo Fire Department since he was hired as a firefighter and EMT in 1996, the department said in a news release.
"I am honored to have been selected to lead an organization which I feel fortunate to simply be a part of," Gillard said. "This department is filled with great men and women, who are dedicated to protecting this community with both professionalism and compassion. I am committed to ensuring that we continue to serve this community as efficiently and effectively as possible, earning the community's trust every day."
Griffin has served as fire chief in Poulsbo since 2012.
