It's still spring and plenty of moisture in the ground but that doesn't mean there isn't a threat of wildfire. Thursday afternoon the Stevens County Fire District No. 1 crews were called to fight a two acre brush fire just of Highway 231 south of Springdale. Last week Stevens County fire officials urged people to be extra careful when burning outdoors and follow all rules for burning. Crews has been called to several small, human-caused fires. Fire fighters said the recent warm temperatures has dried out vegetation enough to make it a fire danger.
