Yakima fire officials say burning incense caused a fire that damaged a Castlevale Road apartment Monday evening. Firefighters went to the building in the 3100 block of Castlevale Road around 7:45 p.m. and found smoke and fire on the second floor of the apartment, according to a fire department news release. A bedroom was on fire, and crews were able to extinguish it within 10 minutes of arriving, the release said. One of the apartment’s two occupants said she discovered the fire after smoke detectors went off, the release said. Incense was burning in the bedroom and caught clothing and other items in the room on fire, Shift Commander Tom Schneider said.
