More than 30 firefighters from across the Upper Yakima Valley responded to a fire that injured one person and damaged a Lancaster Road home Wednesday morning. A resident of 600 Lancaster Road returned home about 7 a.m. to find a fire burning on the ground floor of the house, according to Selah Deputy Fire Chief Jim Lange. All eight of the people inside at the time escaped, but one suffered minor burns and was treated and released from a local hospital, according to fire officials. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from all four corners of the building and flames burning through the roof. Based on the size of the home, a second alarm was sounded, which brought in firefighters from Yakima, the U.S. Army’s Yakima Training Center, Gleed and East Valley.
