Firefighters say a pair of early morning fires in Union Gap has them thinking it was intentionally set. The Yakima Fire Department initially responded to a brush fire just after 1:00 A.M. on the 4300 block of Main Street, but says they then noticed a second fire nearby, just below the Leisure Hills Mobile Home Park. Delbert Guthmiller and his wife live in the mobile home park. He says he woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and that’s when he saw the flames. “I was amazed at how fast everything happened. The flames were unbelievable. They were straight up in the air,” he said. Guthmiller says he's amazed at how quickly it spread, but the Yakima Fire Department says they were able to get the fires under control in about an hour. No people or homes were damaged. The fires are still under investigation.
