Two children escaped by jumping through a window and a black terrier survived a Kelso house fire by hiding under a couch Monday morning, according to fire officials.
Five others, including four adults and one teenager, also fled the fire, which gutted a one-story home at 1706 Bloyd St. in the Butler Acres neighborhood. Two occupants were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but no one was seriously injured, said Longview Fire Battalion Chief Troy Buzalsky.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and an official from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue said it was still under investigation Monday afternoon.
