The two major wildfires that are still burning in North Central Washington are both under a new incident management structure as of Thursday.
The Cougar Creek Fire, which is centered 21 miles northwest of Entiat, was turned over to the Type 2 Northwest Incident Management Team #10, while the Crescent Mountain Fire, which is burning in the headwaters of the Twisp River Basin, is now under the command of the Type 1 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team.
The Growth of both wildfires has been slowing over the past week, due in large part to cooler temperatures and higher humidity within the region. Both blazes are currently quite relative in both their size and containment level. The Cougar Creek is listed as 41,589 acres and 45 percent contained and the Crescent Mountain checks in at 43,716 acres and 35 percent contained.
