What courage it took for a 9-year-old Renton girl to step into the very crosswalk where four months ago, a truck hit her and her mother. She grabbed her mother’s hand and bravely looked both ways for traffic, even though the road was blocked by Renton Fire vehicles to make her feel safe. "When I held her hand, she was shaking,” said her mom Imelda Colis. Two of the firefighters who were there to rush them to the hospital in April were there Wednesday to help them use that crosswalk again. Renton Firefighter Kayla Eychner said it was huge for her to come witness this. That crash gave Yaretzi such severe internal injuries that she spent 10 days in ICU and missed the rest of the school year. So, to start 4th grade, the entire Benson Hill Elementary School staff stood outside the school to welcome her.
