The Yakima Fire Department responded to a house fire on Sunday morning that left two children with second and third degree burns. Crews were called to the house at the 1200 block of Swan Avenue. When they arrived they found the two-story house in flames with fire coming from every window. Four adults and two children were inside the home at the time of the fire. Prior to firefighters arriving, two of the adults were able to rescue the two children whose bedroom was on the first floor. The two children were treated at the scene and were later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. According to Shift Commander Tom Schneider, both of the children suffered second and third degree burns. “The children’s parents are in Seattle with them right now,” said Schneider. “They’re helping the children through their treatment.”
