Kambeitz named interim fire chief in Longview

The City of Longview has appointed Jim Kambeitz its interim fire chief, effective Sept. 17. Kambeitz has been Longview's fire marshal for more than 15 years. "Jim has a strong work ethic and is well respected both within and outside the department," City Manager Kurt Sacha said in announcing the appointment. "Citizens of Longview will be well served ... with Jim as their interim chief." Kambeitz started with the fire service in 1987 and has served as a firefighter, hazmat technician, fire inspector, deputy fire marshal and fire marshal. He holds an associate degree in applied fire science and a bachelor's degree in fire service administration. He is a certified fire inspector, building inspector, plans examiner and fire investigator.
