A major industrial fire spewed toxic smoke into the air and has shut down part of State Route 3 for several hours near Shelton Wednesday night, according to Mason County Search and Rescue. The fire broke out around 7:15 p.m. near S. Delaware Street and SR 3. Firefighters believe the fire started in an RV parked next to a large tire shop and was fanned by winds 25 to 35 miles per hour. When crews arrived they found the RV fully engulfed in flames and the fire had spread to the tire shop. A thick plume of dark smoke could be seen hovering over the area. "It just got worse and then there was stuff exploding and the wind was blowing and they were concerned about it coming up the bank over here because everything is real dry over here and we were on notice for evacuation and they just called that off a little bit ago," said Mark Kiser, who lives nearby.
