Fire crews responded to a two-alarm fire burning multiple buildings near Everett early Monday morning. The fire broke out at about 3:15 a.m. south of Everett along Highway 99, just north of the Mukilteo Speedway. Early reports were that the fire was at a tire store there, but as crews arrived, they realized the area behind the business and a home were also on fire, according to Leslie Hynes with Snohomish County Fire District 1. Firefighters battled the flames defensively to control them from spreading to other areas. About 500 tires caught fire within the burning tire shop, and crews had to use large amounts of foam to extinguish them. No injuries have been reported. Officials have not identified a cause for the fire. Traffic is able to pass in one lane along southbound Highway 99 this morning.
