Trent’s Liasjo’s left leg is still weak, and his arm twitches sometimes. These are small reminders of a car accident that nearly killed him about four years ago.
While walking along the roadside in eighth grade, Trent was struck by a car, spent a week in a Portland hospital and took nearly seven months to recover.
The accident affirmed his childhood dream of becoming a firefighter and EMT. He plans to follow in the footsteps of the first responders who saved his life.
“It’s kind of a little kid thing. Every kid wants to be a firefighter. Then in the eighth grade I was in a wreck, I got hit by a car. … I wasn’t supposed to make it or anything, but I came to,” Trent said.
