Fire damaged a historic home in Discovery Park in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. The fire broke out at a triplex in the 4200 block of Washington Avenue W., said Seattle Fire. Video from the scene showed smoke and flames coming from one of the large historic homes at Fort Lawton, a U.S. Army post that was built in 1900 to protect Seattle and the Puget Sound from a naval attack. The best preserved group of early Fort Lawton buildings was declared a landmark district in 1988. Some of those builders were converted to luxury homes and put on the market last year.
