Area firefighters rescued a man who had jumped off the Highway 18 overpass into the Green River on Tuesday afternoon. The Valley Regional Fire Authority and King County Fire District 44 Mountain View Fire & Rescue team responded to a report at 3:25 p.m. of a man who had plunged into the river. A witness reported that he saw the man partially out of the river and on the bank, appearing to be alive but injured. The man was located in an area covered with thick brush. Firefighters, using machetes to cut the brush, were able to reach him on foot. Because of the steep terrain and the man's injuries, he was taken off the river bank by boat. He was brought to shore and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
