More firefighters arrived in Snohomish County Saturday night to fight a 325-acre wildfire that's burning near Gold Bar. Steady rain throughout the day Saturday helped firefighters catch a much-needed break on the fire lines. The fire is 10 percent contained, officials with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources said Saturday night. The level 2 and level 1 evacuation notices that had been in effect for dozens of homes in the area were either downgraded or lifted by Saturday afternoon. Level 2 means be prepared to leave. Level one means to be on alert. No homes have been lost in the fire, and no injuries have been reported. Investigators are still try to determine a cause of the fire. Mike Hamilton's property sits closest to the fire lines. He was one of the first people to spot the fire on Friday afternoon, he said. "About 4 o'clock, somebody walks up my driveway and they said they were trying to get a better view. I'm like 'A better view of what?' They said 'The smoke up there.' I said 'There's a lot of smoke up on the mountain coming toward our house.'" Hamilton said. "It didn't seem real. It didn't seem like it could affect me. And I could see the way that the wind was going. And it just seemed like too far away to take something seriously," he added. Hamilton said he jumped on his all-terrain vehicle and went up to get a closer look. He didn't see any firefighters around, so he called 9-1-1 then spent the next several hours helping firefighters reach the smoke and flames. The fire is burning in a steep area south of State Route 2.
