Firefighters faced challenging conditions Friday morning as they responded to a blaze that swept through a Woodinville home. The blaze, which was reported at about 7:25 a.m. at a home in the 16000 block of NE 175th Street, sent up a pillar of black smoke that could be seen for miles. All of the occupants of the home were able to escape. Crews responding to the blaze immediately were confronted by a thick growth of tall trees surrounding the home that left them with little or no defensive space to battle the flames. There were also fears that the trees could catch fire and the blaze would spread. Firefighters eventually were able to get in position and bring the blaze under control, but the home was believed to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
