A homeowner was alerted by his neighbor to a house fire in West Central Spokane Monday morning. It turns out that his neighbor is none other that Spokane’s own “Iron Nun.” Sister Madonna Buder is known as the Iron Nun because she competes in triathlons. The fire Monday morning scared Sister Madonna. She says the homes are so close to each other that she’s glad it didn’t spread. Sister Madonna noticed the fire because she’s up early. But she does think there was a little bit of divine intervention because she normally doesn’t open the curtains when she gets up. “Something said you know it's light out there pull the curtains and when I pulled those curtains oh my gosh. I saw white smoke billowing behind here,” she says. She called 911 and then ran into the home. “The room was filled with smoke and the kitchen curtain looked like it was ready to catch on fire.” Then, she started yelling to alert her neighbor.
