A woman taken to a hospital here for a mental health evaluation walked out of the hospital and stole an ambulance Tuesday morning. The 46-year-old woman led police on what they described as a "very short, low-speed pursuit" through downtown Shelton until she was arrested. She was later booked into jail. The woman had told police earlier Tuesday that she was experiencing mental issues and wasn't taking her medication. Officers took her to Mason General Hospital to be evaluated. But before she could be seen by a medical professional, she walked out. Officers found her and returned her to the hospital, police said. Back at the hospital the woman was changing clothes out of sight of staff. She again walked out of the hospital and into a Medic Ambulance.
