Firefighters were called to a mobile home fire in Lakewood Friday morning. Two people were transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation after the mobile home in the 3200 block of 96th Street South caught fire from the outside. West Pierce fire said firefighters tried to save two cats inside the mobile home, but they died in the fire. Firefighters said the fire appeared to have started near a shed or carport. The cause is not yet known. Most of the outside of the trailer was gutted by the flames.
