Firefighters from several local departments spent hours battling an unruly warehouse fire Tuesday evening in Auburn.
The two-alarm fire broke out sometime around 5 p.m. at a large warehouse in the 2800 block of Academy Drive SE.
It's unclear how the fire started, but officials from the Valley Regional Fire Authority say blacksmithing work was being done inside the warehouse.
The building is owned by the Auburn Adventist Academy, but is leased out to a metal fabricating business called Monster Metal, according to Auburn Adventist Academy principal John Soule.
A man and his dog were able to escape the fire without any injuries. Nobody else was hurt.
"The fire department was here quickly. They were pretty amazing. Nobody was hurt and everyone was out of the building," Soule said.
With help from South King Fire, Kent Fire, and Mountain View Fire, Valley Regional Firefighters spent hours battling the stubborn fire. Crews used metal saws to get access to the building. Once inside, they used firefighting foam to get control of the blaze.
This was the second warehouse fire on the property in the past six months. In May, a large fire ripped through a warehouse on the property and spread to a neighboring building. Investigators said that fire did not appear suspicious.
