Next year will be the last year you can legally set off fireworks in Vancouver after the city council voted Monday night to ban the sale and use of personal fireworks. The council voiced unanimous support in changing the fireworks ordinance in a vote earlier this year. The ban goes into effect in 2017, so the 2016 Fourth of July won't be affected by the change. That's because under state law, any changes to fireworks regulations require a full-year notice. Prior to the vote, Vancouver was the largest city in the state of Washington that still allowed personal fireworks sales.
