A close call for a man near Duvall after his SUV got swept into the floodwaters of the Snoqualmie River Wednesday night. Firefighters responded to a call for help just after 6:00 p.m. when someone saw the Ford Explorer floating away in a flooded field. Crews used a rescue boat to reach the partially submerged vehicle. When they finally got to the the SUV, they said the man had just inches of breathing room left. "He barely had any headroom. We were fortunate enough to see the top of the vehicle," said Jared Shoop with the Duvall Fire Department. "We could see just a little bit of the dome light still on and hear him screaming inside." Fire crews smashed out the rear window and dragged him out. He was conscious but, was suffering from hypothermia and rushed to a hospital. "I would say that he is very fortunate that someone actually saw him," said Shoop. "And that he didn't become so hypothermic that he passed out and wasn't able to communicate," Firefighters believe a strong current pulled the SUV off a flooded road. Rescuers don't know how long he was in the water.
