Fire of unknown origin heavily damaged a two-story Happy Valley home Sunday afternoon, Nov. 8, displacing four residents, Bellingham Fire Department officials said.
Dispatchers received several calls about a house ablaze at 3017 Wilson Alley about 2:10 p.m. Sunday.
“When our crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out multiple windows,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Hewett.
More than 20 firefighters were dispatched, including five engine companies and a ladder truck company, an ambulance crew, a medical supervisor and a battalion chief.
Hewett said the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and no injuries were reported. Firefighters hauled hoses inside the building to attack the fire and, afterward, they yanked down drywall and sifted through the rubble to make sure the fire didn’t rekindle.
Hewett said the Red Cross was assisting the four people who lived in the home.
Fire investigators remained at the scene for several hours. There was no immediate cause or damage estimate, Hewett said.
