Passage of the $4.9 million bond measure Nov. 3 allowing South Kitsap Fire and Rescue to update its fleet of emergency vehicles allowed Fire Chief Steve Wright a bit of a breather. Its approval by 70.7 percent of fire district registered voters was a pleasant surprise, Wright said. “I’m surprised by the percentage approval rate,” he said. “It really wasn’t close.” Wright said the bond measure’s easy passage was confirmation that “people understand what we want to do. I feel we’re building a good level of trust with our residents. “We’ll definitely invite our citizens to take a look at the new equipment when it finally arrives,” he said.
